New Yorkers weigh in: Crime today vs. back in the day

New York City residents have almost become accustomed to seeing crime scenes in their neighborhoods as law enforcement continue to adjust to a post-COVID-19 pandemic society, as well as facing other challenges.

Long-time city residents have their own views on how crime today compares to back in the "bad old days" of past decades.

"It's just getting worse. It's unbelievable you can't even go out to the street," one Upper West Side resident for the past 70 years, told FOX 5 NY.

NYC residents must not read the news. In the past few weeks I've seen where Mayor Adams said overall crime is down in The Big Apple.

I remember the bad old days of New York City in the 70's. At one point NYC was the murder capital of the US. These were the days of "Fort Apache - the Bronx".

That not one, but two mayors have been working to return NYC to those lawless days. It's ironic considering the present mayor used to be an NYPD officer.

  2. I keep hearing that here in Chicago.

  3. I wonder if Rudy G. Is rethinking his war on the mafia. They may take money for protection but at least they provided it, unlike the city/police/DA.

  6. Now, Eric "NYC has a brand!" Adams wants NY'ers to pay for illegals to go to college.

  7. I used to live out there. I have zero sympathy for them. They've reaped what they've sown.
