Good riddance

Aerosmith will be touring a city near you for the last time to celebrate the rock band’s 50-plus years together.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band announced Monday the dates for their farewell tour called “Peace Out” starting Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. The 40-date run of shows, which includes a stop in the band’s hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve, will end Jan. 26 in Montreal.

“I think it’s about time,” guitarist Joe Perry said.

*****

I've always hated that fucking band, almost as much as I hate the Rolling Stones, especially that wannabe Mick Jagger looking prick, Steven Tyler.
I've passed on seeing them play a couple times with zero regrets.

  1. First saw them at the 1978 Texxas Jam. They sucked.
Next time was with Collective Soul opening for them in the early 90s.
    They sucked. Collective Soul rocked.

  2. Stop sugar coating it and tell us how you really feel.

  3. I never understood why anyone would want to go to any rock concert claiming they like their music. The first and last concert I attended was Jefferson Starship in 1980 in Houston. There was no way you could even recognize the songs they were playing! Acoustics were awful, the crowd was unruly and loud, etc. I guess I was an old man even in my late 20s. I won't even buy a "live" album!

    1. Maybe if you'd gone to see a good band for your first concert.....
      Jefferson Starship? Really?

    2. Give us Barabbas! Or maybe Steve Marriot.

    3. For the record. Bar is Aramaic for 'Son of' & 'Abbas' is Aramaic for 'The Father'. So when the crowd yelled "give us Barabbas" they were yelling for the "Son of the Father". And Jesus was/is...The Son of the Father! Mysterious ways I'm telling ya.

You pay more attention than most.

    5. You might as well say that you don’t like music. I mean, Aerosmith sucks, but live music is music. Studio shit is over-produced garbage.

  4. "Sweet Emotions" and "Dream On" still good with me and the Stone's, "You can't always get what you want", has always struck me as a Spiritual song to the heart, but that's me!

    1. "Dream On" is from Foreigner if I remember correctly.

  6. Have to concur, time to put a moratorium on fossil rockers with so much plastic surgery they look like old lesbians. Grow old, go away.

  7. Over amplified and under talented

  8. Amen, never liked either.

  9. Aerosmith are a rock band in the same way Al Sharpton is a small-town preacher. They're in the Rock and Roll hall of fame but Iron Maiden aren't?

  10. I never like that band. Used to see Tyler on occasion. Assholes usually old running after him for an autograph. I didn' like him but the son of a bitch couldn't go in a grocerey store without some old broad running after him. One day he sat beside my wife and I on a beach. We didn't look at him and he didn't look at us. Worked out well.

  14. Some good cuts on their first few albums, Rocks,Toys in the Attic, Permanent Vacation.
I'd rather listen to them than look at them.

    1. Nope, those sucked too.
Aerosmith - the world's most well known garage band.

    2. Looks like Ken’s pretty set in his mind on this one folks. No wavering, give it up.

    3. You should hear me rant on the Rolling Stones sometime. I start frothing at the mouth.

    4. Yes. I’ve read some of that from you. Good music comes mostly from out in the weeds. You gotta search it out. Corporate music almost entirely sucks. Local, local, local, people.

    5. Donnie, you're going to like Friday's selection then, she's an amateur musician for sure.

    6. I will look forward to that Ken.

    7. Ken, I think you misspelled garbage band. Or is their shit what one would play to keep trash pandas from living by the car?

  15. They are the almost OVERRATED band in history.

      Then the Doors,
      Then Grand Funk Railroad.
      Then Hall and Oates.
      Then list goes on.

  16. Too damn funny... You sound like me Ken. I never liked Aerosmith (never hated them though) and I LOVE Roger Daltrey saying that the Stones are a mediocre pub band even though I hate the Who.

This is with the optimistic assumption the world holds together till then.

  19. I did like their early stuff. But live? My girlfriend and I walked out of a not-local "Get Your Wings" era concert and started the drive home early. Never paid too much attention to them after that.

I'll take Aerosmith (early Aerosmith) over Journey any day.

  22. I seen them once at the Orange County Fair Speedway during fair week in Middletown NY in 1984. Friend of mine suggested we go. Took a couple of hits of mescaline plus had some good bud with us. Watch the concert from atop the grandstand not many people around us.

Behind the stage off in the distance a series of thunder storms were raging far to the east of the venue. Lighting everywhere. Best part of the show especially with the trip we had going on.

Was not much of a fan then or now.

  23. This comments section is hilarious. As for me - I think people need to know when to give it up. I knew a guy who was the original bass player for a 70's power pop band called Big Star and for him it was like "I did that, it's over" and got on with his life.

  24. "Walk This Way" is the only song they ever did that I liked.

  25. I liked Aerosmith until I saw them in concert about 30 years ago with megadeath. Megadeath was apparently drunk/drugged and hitting on a girl in the front row, and Aerosmith was little better. Disliked them ever since.

  26. The page plant (Led Zeppelin, effectively) concert was awesome. The Cure concert as well, he sang for literally four hours and a half straight. He was clearly loving every minute. Just awesome.

They were great in the 70s. Since then they've been kept on life support by the record companies. IMHO, five albums should be the max for any band..

  28. Right? I hate Aerosmith and the stones. Good riddance. I face, and Aerosmith song started playing on a pandora station today and I clicked no!

  29. weird fact: steven tyler has a sister that looks EXACTLY like him and is a science teacher in newport NH

Lemmy from Motorhead always said the Rolling Stones were posers...they rented a house in the bad part of town purely for street cred right before they put out their first album. before that they played almost exclusively college towns and lived in their parent's basements.

  30. They helped make rap music popular with white people back in the 80s. That's reason enough to hard them besides their shitty music

  32. Saw them in the late 70’s when the “Draw the Line” album came out. Literally got booed off the stage. Cleveland. The warm up band came back out and played a few more songs. They were pretty good, Styx. I like the Stones, though. Go ahead and hate Eod1sg Ret.

  33. I saw Aerosmith for their Toys in the Attic tour. They were not as good as Boston who I saw about a month before. Then I got to see Zeppelin. They played for 3 hours and 15 minutes. Shows after that were kind of a let down. Never saw the Stones but like the '66 to '80 music. I my humble opinion their "Sucking in the 70's" album is their best compilation. I've also seen Clapton pre and post cocaine. The thing is most venues are terrible for acoustics. Have to catch them in a concert hall to really hear the music.

  34. I hated Tyler even more when I found out that he abandoned his own daughter and Todd Rundgren raised her as his own...

  35. I don't mind some of their old stuff, but Steven Tyler looks so pathetic now. Dude, it's time for a haircut. You look like an old queen, and there's nothing more sad than an old queen.
