SPECIAL REPORT: How the Southern Poverty Law Center quietly pivoted to gun control

For more than 50 years the Southern Poverty Law Center, Inc. battled segregationists, challenged Jim Crow laws and bankrupted the Ku Klux Klan and other violent extremist groups. But ever since 2019, when the SPLC fired its co-founder and media frontman, Morris Dees, after accusations of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and racism surfaced, the nonprofit quietly shifted its focus. Now, rather than advocating for civil rights, the SPLC is fighting against civil rights, specifically those protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Today, SPLC’s press releases, position papers and rhetoric make it nearly indistinguishable from any traditional gun control group, like Brady, Everytown or Giffords, with whom the SPLC has partnered on several occasions. But there are two major differences: The SPLC is flush with cash – far more than all other gun-control groups combined – and it still wields a powerful cudgel, its Hatewatch list, which it uses to publicly shame anyone – including members of the gun-rights community – who disagrees with its principles.

  1. A goal of mine since I started blogging in 2016 is to became listed as a hater by these SPLC scumbags.

    1. years ago, back when Yahoo Groups was still a thing, I created 10 fake yahoo profiles and 10 fake yahoo groups, all with vaguely militia-sounding titles. I had each fake profile join each group. I put recurring training events in the calendars, using the titles from military training manuals (tactical single channel radios was one).

then I ratted out each of those groups to the SPLC, and they promptly listed each of these groups as "extremist" and "active". last I checked they're all still listed.

  2. "...a day is coming, and now is..." these clowns in the "So Pathetic Legal Circus" act out like they do, because so far they have met limited resistance and push back by the very people they target. As each day passes, we get closer "mad as hell and won't take it anymore". On that day, they will discover that there are many more of us than there are of them. And, we are not happy, nor are we willing to sit down and do as we are told.
They're heading for a very, very bad day.

  3. I'll never overlook the fact that Jerry Garcia, upon his death, bequeathed his one million dollar guitar to the SPLC, which soon thereafter sold it for two million dollars. They then used that money, in part, to call people like his fans 'domestic terrorists' in congressional hearings during the Obama days.
    Good going, Jer.

  5. There was no "pivot". Civil Rights(TM) has always been "How can we get PAID, to genocide whitey?"
