As he pulls his fake gun on someone carrying a real one.....

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Last year in San Francisco, there were more than 20,000 reported thefts from vehicles. ABC7 News reporter Luz Pena spoke to a San Francisco resident and business owner who has taken it upon himself to fight back and protect his neighborhood.

He's lived in San Francisco for over 20 years and lately instead of going by his legal name, people call him "Boots." "I'm called Boots. I'm working outside rather than inside."

Covering his face with a ski mask to protect his identity, Boots walks around his neighborhood of Fisherman's Wharf with a non-lethal weapon that looks like a gun. His goal is to scare off thieves from breaking into cars.

  1. Good citizen, but I question a non-lethal weapon that looks like a gun.
Gonna get shot, by criminals OR cops.

    1. A criminal's first instinct is to run; a badge monkey shoots anything they perceive to be a threat.

  2. Sounds like the asshole either has a serious suicide wish or has watched too many Will Smith movies.

  3. Cops unable/unwilling to find thieves breaking into cars, but are quick to find 1 guy patrolling with a pepper gun and arrest him. Who wants to bet he will be sentenced to jail time while felons get the revolving door treatment.

A non-lethal weapon? A pellet gun? Dummy gun? Taser?

My guess is that soon Boots will be lying down somewhere in his neighborhood of Fisherman's Wharf in a puddle that looks like blood. Boots is an idiot.

    1. Charles Bronson pulled it off pretty well.

I'm thinking of branching out; have residents and businesses pay for protection. Its a growth industry.

  6. I recall something about stupid games and stupid prizes? As much as I like a good neighborhood watch, historically, they carried weapons and lethal force was an option. Might be wiser these days to hire a constable or off-duty cop to patrol, or if the state allows for it, a private cop.

  10. "SFPD acknowledged they cannot respond to every car break-in." That's a lie, they don't respond to any break-in. Last year my lib bro was there, and took precautions against a break-in, got boosted anyway. Several thousand dollars of stuff stolen, and they refused to show, told him if he wanted a police report, he had to go to them. He was really shaken up by it, yet he's still a lib. My sister and I just shake our heads about him.
