What made this reunion special is that AHF has OH-6A s/n 67-16435 in its collection. Hicks logged dozens of combat hours in this Loach and on this day, fifty years after he last saw this helicopter, he was reunited with it and flew it once again.

If you are in Ocala, check out Don Garlits museum of drag racing. He's still going to work there, at, I believe, 93 years old.
ReplyDeleteSome really nice history there.
Vietnam. We in Aus. celebrated the fallen and wounded along with the 60,000 that served there. Yesterday,18th. August. Anniversary of the battle of Long Tan. Look it up.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad was a Crew Chief in the 116th ACH in Vietnam. I've been seeing a lot of these videos and it's nice to hear from others in his situation in the war. He passed in 2015 but we got him up in the air one more time before he passed. He loved flying.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting story, I was with the 71st AHC Firebirds as a gunner, May 70-71 Chu Lai. Thank you for posting.
