A “peer”? In my experience cats are more like owners of humans. A person can adopt a cat but in the long run a cat selects their owners. If they don’t like someone they damn sure will let them know. As the human you are at their disposal whenever they want to play, for petting and when they deem the food you put out is unworthy of their palate. I can understand why the ancient Egyptians deemed them gods because they sure act like it. MadMarlin

They are so cute so's we won't eat 'em.
DeleteCats can be a pleasure. It all depends on what you are looking for in a pet. If you expect it to be like a dog, you are going to be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteYep. They believe themselves to more like a peer than a subordinate pet.
