If you were getting 20 fucking million dollars a year from a job you hadn't worked at for almost 20 years, why would you do anything other than fuck off every day of the rest of your life?
Nope. No TV. I do subscribe to a youtube history channel and he did a few shows about that unit during the war, and he got my curiosity up about it. I'll check it out when I've got time to binge watch it.
Get a firestick, jailbreak it, and as long as you have internet, you can find practically anything you want. Instructions on youtube, if I can do it, anyone can.
Albert Blythe did not die of wounds as portrayed in BOB. He survived the war, fought in Korea including a combat jump, and ultimately died of complications from surgery for a peptic ulcer in 1967 whilst still on active duty.
Kenny - At the beginning of each episode the real soldiers talked about what happened during the war and that would lead in to the scripted episode.
I believe they took those interviews from a documentary that they did about Easy Company with the same soldiers called: "We Stand Alone Together" ---- this documentary is fantastic. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0302022/
#7 - Got hit in dodgeball so I was walking off to the side and the biggest guy there missed whoever he was throwing at and hit me square in the side of my head which promptly bounced my head off the brick wall beside me. Went down like a sack of rocks.
I can relate. Ray Parrent could open the gym doors from half court. I had to have at least a full step to get out. Side of the head as I walked off, on the out of bounds line on the Bball court. Dragged me to and smacked my head on the wall. I didn't hit the floor, but the world was spinning.
At the end of gym class, they were supposed to be putting away the dodge balls. One of the boys decided to take a cheap shot at my daughter. The gym teacher had to pull her off him as she was trying to rearrange his face with her fist. The young man in question figured out how to keep his shit together around her from that point forward.
Back in the 70's Flip Wilson, the black actor and comedian, had a Rolls Royce convertible with the custom CA plate, KILLER. I saw it once. Probably wouldn't get past the DMV today.
#8, yes unless they woman says " No hands."
ReplyDeleteI liked these
ReplyDelete#19 - Schwimmer (lower right) was in Band of Brothers.
ReplyDeleteMust have been a cameo. I don't remember him in it.
DeleteCaptain Sobel, dickhead.
DeleteWas the name calling really necessary, asshole?
DeleteHe had a fairly decent role in the beginning and the small later on.
DeleteI saw what you did there. Steve in Idaho
DeleteI think he meant that Capt Sobel was a dickhead.
DeleteIf that's the case, I apologize to him.
DeleteI've never seen the series so I didn't know the character.

DeleteI was actually impressed with his performance in it. He managed to make me hate him as Sobel and not look at him as Ross the dipshit.
DeleteI guess I'll have to watch it when I take my Christmas vacation away from the blog.
DeleteYou've never seen Band of Brothers? Really?
DeleteNope. No TV.

Kenny, I highly endorse Band Of Brothers. True saga of Easy Co in WWII from basic to Normandy to May '45. Very well put together.
DeleteBTW: I haven't watched TV since the '92 Olympics.
