Always look both ways before crossing, kids

CHICAGO - A 24-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle as he was running from officers in Austin.

The incident happened just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of S. Cicero Ave.

  1. That's Chicago! Pure classic story! Now, I wonder if the driver was also running from the cops and/or driving a stolen car, had drugs, warrants, a body in the trunk, just done a dive-by... Maybe all of the above. What a place!

  4. I thought the Chi PD was ordered not to chase suspects. Especially suspects of color. I see Rev. Al beating the war drums and a 6 figure law suit coming down soon.

  7. From Second City Cop blog: The usual suspect was out of his stolen car at a car wass 2h when police pulled up. He ran and was run over by an 18 wheel truck that didn't stop.
    The cops involved are on a 30 day suspension to investigate whether they violated CPD policy by chasing the thief.
