Class is dismissed

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities responded to a Sumner County elementary school Friday morning after children became ill during an experiment involving dry ice in a science class.

Crews were reportedly called to Vena Stuart Elementary School on Hart Street shortly before 9:15 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 16.

Over the next 30 minutes, Langford said other children started to experience “other nausea-type symptoms,” so as a precaution, 18 students and one teacher were taken to local hospitals for assessment and treatment.

  1. After 3 years of wheezing into masks you would think that the kiddies would be able to shrug off a little hypoxia.

  3. Amateurs! Our chemistry teacher showed us how to fill the room with chlorine. On another occasion she dropped a block of sodium and set her bench on fire.

    1. My High School Chemistry teacher was describing separating compounds chemically and asked if we knew any modern uses of this, I mentioned 'freebasing' and he laughed, pretty hard. He passed me, even though I rarely showed up for class.

  4. I vaguely remember putting dry ice into glasses of cheap wine a long time ago. Mad Dog Slurpies. We all felt like shit the next day, but that's what Mad Dog does.

  5. Mass hysteria: An outbreak of unusual and uncharacteristic behaviors, thoughts and feelings, or health symptoms shared among a group of people. People affected by mass hysteria: typically believe something specific has triggered their symptoms. Remember, it works great for the government when they use it on the public.

  6. Mass faking event, more like it. Kids will do anything through social contagion for 'attention' these days.... and I mean anything. Sad.
