  2. He came to Bosnia, everyone was bored and we were extras in that one video he shot, that was enough for me.

    Lee Greenwood keeps his crown.

    2. SFOR 11, Eagle in Tuzla. bunch of us Electric Strawberry engineers with some of our infantry and a bunch of Montana boys.

      Captain Jack's was booming.

Cleaned and test fired a bunch of new RK-62s with the Finns, Yugo M-56s and even a Tommy Gun the grunts got in the harvest.

Not my rotation, but a lot of institutional knowledge of door-to-door gun confiscation was learned during that whole boondoggle.

Beautiful place, and Mt. Zep was pretty fucking amazing.

    1. Oncologists are speaking out about the massive rise in new and seriously aggressive cancers since the jab was introduced.

    2. My wife died just over a year ago from stomach cancer after the jab and 2 boosters. 6 months from diagnosis to death.
She and I were both RNs. I retired early to avoid the shot and she would argue with me about my criticism of the jab.

  4. My youngest was a toddler when "How Do You Like Me Now" came out and he thought that was the best song ever written. I think he still does. Believe it or not the only way we could play it all the time on repeat back in those days was by getting the CD. I can still hear my son as a little toddler who could barely talk saying "Play like me now, play like me now!"

  5. He'll be missed: for me, country music works well with a sense of humour.

  6. The man loved his family, loved his country and seemed to have fun. 62 is way too damn young.

    RIP Toby

  7. Fuck him

I sat on a concrete block in 130 degree heat for six hours in an Iraqi shit hole (my first day off in forever), just for him to not show up.

But you know who did show? Wayne Newton. That guy was awesome.

  8. That sucks. I loved his songs, great attitude, sense of humor. He's leaving quite a legacy. My prayers and condolences to his family.

  9. I can't remember what year it was but probably between 2007-2009 when he came to Iraq. I saw him play one sunset evening at the big pool in the IZ with a few hundred troops, DOS and contractors. The word went out mid-afternoon that he would be coming (yes, there were valid OPSEC considerations and concerns about so many exposed in the case of incoming).

I talked to his escort/protective detail, and they said he had already played ten different sites that day, sometimes at very small outposts for as few as a dozen troops. They were scheduled to visit a dozen more sites the next day. He and his two-accompanying band-mates cat-napped on the chopper as it hopped around to different outposts and bases. They said he and his band put in total effort every time and fully engaged and maximized the time with the troops as much as time permitted. Our show would have his largest audience of the day.

"He is in the very top tier of easy-to-deal-with celebrities" said a longtime USO guy who worked out of the embassy.

For us he played four songs interspersed with a couple of good stories. He came off to me as fully genuine and the performance was absolutely top notch! I remember a powerful, big, full sound with just TK and a bass player and drummer to back him up. His voice was his usual vibrant, clear, booming and nuanced, with no sign of fatigue or stress.

The troops were absolutely ecstatic with the show and TK obviously enjoyed the interaction with them. Evidently (thankfully) the haj didn't get the word...no incoming to interrupt a special evening.
