Back in 2012, we rented a house that was technically on the outskirts of Hialeah for a year before finding a home to buy. Very few people there spoke English, including at the grocery stores and other local businesses. When we bought a house, it was in Broward County, about 15 miles farther north, and joked that we were moving back to America. It wasn't really a joke, though.
ReplyDeleteI worked in Pembroke Pines in the early 90's. I went back in '18, the people at a 7-11 didn't speak English. You have to go to Melbourne is you want America.
DeleteBorn and raised in Miami. Hialeah has always had the stigma of being Miami’s step-child and rightfully so; it will never change, just the players.
ReplyDelete“Will the last American leaving Miami please bring the Flag”. Lived there 1987-2011, now in the mountains of western NC
