Mere technicalities

No charges will be filed against a Northern California second grade teacher who police said was teaching with a blood alcohol content level two times the legal limit to drive.

The teacher was arrested for DUI and child endangerment on the morning of Oct. 2 while teaching at Nuestro Elementary in Live Oak, an hour north of Sacramento, after a co-worker reported her being possibly drunk, authorities said. She was jailed, and an investigation was launched, but Sutter County District Attorney Jennifer Dupré said Monday her office declined to prosecute the case.

  1. Some of my teachers would have benefited from being drunk.

  2. Back in the 50s I suspected a couple of my teachers were juiced. Especially my chemistry teacher who had a 1,000 ml Erlenmeyer flask on his desk that was filled with an amber liquid in the morning, but almost empty at 3 PM.

  3. The Assistant Principal at my high school, a former jock with a big name, had a big trophy in his office that rattled as if a bottle was hidden inside.

  4. Now the teacher will have a TWI on her permanent record.

  7. My high school Algebra II teacher was an alcoholic. He arrived for school every day with a quart thermos of "coffee" liberally lased with whiskey. By 10:00AM he'd be staggering around the blackboards and slurring his words.

    1. It's not slurring, it's speaking in cursive.

    2. My high school Algebra teacher wasn't that sophisticated. He just kept it in a brown paper bag......bottom right drawer of his desk. We all knew it was there. Helluva good teacher though, so none of us squealed on him.

".......speaking in cursive" Gonna remember that one!

No charges - Well that may have something to do with no laws where broken.
Why do they always go on about being over the driving limit, when not driving? There is no limit for walking!
