Citrus Heights, CA — The city of Citrus Heights will be without a mayor starting this weekend.
In a surprise move, current Mayor Bret Daniels said he is resigning effective Saturday and is moving immediately to Kentucky, calling California's politics evil.
Looks like the heat in the kitchen reached the critical point for the mayor

DeleteI believe his remarks were addressed to the people of his Tennessee congressional district, which had failed to re-elect him.

JD, many City Councils in small cities have their elected officials in unpaid positions. They serve in addition to doing their regular jobs. It’s hard work. The learning curve is steep, and the peanut gallery at the meetings is filled with people that just like being mean to their elected officials. After a short while, it becomes obvious to the Mayor and Council that doing good work for the town is like shoving a diamond up a goat’s ass. Walking away is a good thing to do.

DeleteThere is a little town in the California desert next to a US Navy base. The Navy and the town decided to swap parcels of land. Somehow the mayor's wife ended up as owner (part owner?) of the former Navy land. When the Indians, excuse me, Native Americans decided to put a casino in the little town, they wanted that land. The ex-mayor's wife demanded ten million for it.
I would love to know how her name ended up on the deed versus the city's.
I wonder if conditions in Citrus Heights will get better or worse next week.

The corrupt government in Sacramento should be in jail just for their train fiasco, not to mention stupid high prices for EVERYTHING. Allowing illegal aliens to roam everywhere, giving illegal aliens free health-care...the list is endless.
