In a world with a positively teeming aftermarket for AR-15s, there is no longer just the question, “Should I upgrade my AR-15 trigger?” This is inevitably followed up by the question: Which brand? What AR-15 trigger is right for your rifle? The trigger is an essential component to a firearm’s accuracy, neck-and-neck with the barrel in terms of importance. So, let’s look at the Pros and Cons of your AR-15 trigger upgrade.

one guy told me about Larue triggers so, I gave one a try. very nice 2 stage trigger.
ReplyDeletebought 2 more on sale to upgrade a couple of rifles.
but for the price, they hard to beat. they a lot better than any "stock" trigger I used.
and a damn sight better than the ones I used in the damn army !
and at 80 bucks or so on sale. they fit in the budget , SSI doesn't go a far as it used too. dave in pa.
Trigger Tech!!! They put them on sale around 4 July, branded with a flag. The fixed 3.5 lbs version is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteSecond vote for the Larue MBT. All the ARs in the house have them now.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of Fail Zero triggers in builds, but the best I’ve fired came in my Super Duty. I never really had any problems with Milspec triggers that we used in the Army. Qualified expert with them for years. Eod1sg Ret
ReplyDeleteLike everything else, train with what you got. I can't afford specialty triggers so I train with the old mil-spec. Works for me. Maybe not a solution for some, but certainly is for a lot of us old farts who have been shooting before there were new-fangled parts to waste money on.
ReplyDeleteSpend the time to train right and the trigger becomes just a part of your hand. OutOfTime.
A good trigger, and an optic, make it much easier and faster to learn the basics and become a better shooter.
DeleteI agree, people are always chasing the newest and best spending money like a drunken sailor on shore leave... Rmr, red dot, single stage, 2 stage, lasers, etc... SMH

Franklin Armory Binary.
ReplyDeleteGotta love that 2 for 1.

And they aren't just for AR's. You can get them for the 10-22 and the PC Charger as well as several others.
DeleteI am perfectly happy with my PSA EPT trigger upgrade for about $35.
ReplyDeletePSA is the best company on the planet for firearms. I had to drop that site. I was so addicted to it.
DeleteI own 2 Laurue MBT 2 stage triggers & both operate perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI bought a LaRue. I like my good triggers and this trigger is good.
ReplyDeleteAnother one I bought was an ALG. That's a good one too.

I'm going to jump in here and date myself. My first two-stage trigger was a Milazzo-Krieger. Later builds are running Geissele SSA's.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy with the Larue. I was never in the military so I had no incentive to learn to use crap. The milspec trigger I had was like dragging a double-shovel through a rockpile.
ReplyDeleteGeissele. I haven’t felt any trigger that comes close to the SSA-E. I’ve used Timney, LaRue MBT - Geissele outshines them both. Don’t EVER pay full hit retail for them! They have enough sales throughout the year that waiting is worth it.
ReplyDeleteGeese two-stage trigger here. Much better than stock.
ReplyDeleteI had an Anderson lower bought from, maybe, sportsman's guide with a terrible gritty trigger that was difficult to press hard enough to fire. Later I bought two. ar15 kits from Palmetto state armory, one had the EPT (Enhanced Polished Trigger) I bought 2 EPT triggers on sale and replaced the others. For 30-40 bucks they are a good deal. I'm sure a $200 Geiselle would prove to be better but for me $30 EPT is smooth enough.
ReplyDeleteI started in '69 with an Air Force (basic training) Ar-15, mil-spec trigger. 55 years later, I'm still running mil-spec triggers. Buddy, can ya spare a trigger to a broke dick geezer, any amount will help... Bless you, brother (in my best road corner, begging voice).
ReplyDeleteGiselle 2 stage OR Rock River 2 stage match. Trust me on this. Rock River if $ is a concern.
