Researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder are trying to develop a breathalyzer that would track marijuana impairment levels in real-time.
Although it has been 12 years since Colorado legalized recreational marijuana, law enforcement said they still face issues when trying to determine if someone is too high to drive.
In Saskatchewan and Alberta, the Sheriffs, DoT and RCMP all use swabs for roadside tests. And don't forget, after that, they permanently have your DNA.
ReplyDeleteFucking idiots. If you cause a wreck you get punished. Doesn't matter if you were adjusting the radio, had too much booze, too much weed, or just not paying attention. Everything else is just tyrants trying to dictate choices.
ReplyDeleteIn NC a new law states that "driving while impaired" is a misdemeanor. It includes cannabis.
ReplyDeleteWe were told weed was harmless.
ReplyDeleteWe were also told the LBBTQXYZ123 people were harmless.
DeleteI live in Colorado. I do not do any kind of intoxicants, but thousands of people do. The car wrecks between dope smokers and distracted cell phone users is horrible. They have needed a definitive field test for almost a decade. Finally, it may happen!!!
ReplyDeleteWill they have a test for being sleepy?
DeleteJust wave a bag of doritos in front of them and watch the reaction.
ReplyDeleteAre they kidding? When I used to smoke, I drove so slow the only threat to other drivers was the road rage I could cause!
ReplyDeleteSmarter Half and I toured Colorado in 2015. As I was pulling onto I-70 I looked to my right to see the driver next to me firing up a pipe of weed. The next night we were a full block behind a car. The smell of pot was so strong Smarter Half started to sneeze. The smell also attracted the attention of a police officer who pulled them over. As we passed, the officer was shaking his and hauling the driver out of the car.
