#9, most people have no idea how much oil is in one of those damn windmills. yet they keep putting the damn things up although they only good for maybe 20 some odd years ? the gears alone need a shit ton of oil. we should be doing either hydro or nuke power if you want to be "green" about it.
In the US, every hydropower site is taken, including those where you need to dam up a river. Nuclear is the way to go, and it should be modeled after France’s or Canada’s nuclear program. France gets about 70% of its electricity from nuclear energy and has among the lowest electricity rates in the world.
I've lost count of how many wind turbines I've seen break down, and in more than one occasion, catch fire. Heinster, don't you mean "graft and kickbacks" rather than "free money"?
They weren't designed to have a building collapse on their front ends. Damage has been done to that machine (besides its bucket being crushed) and it may not show up now, but it will show up.
They green earth people say "reduce your carbon footprint, except that all lifeforms on earth are carbon based. I have a sawsall that will cut off one of your feet if you want to reduce your "carbon footprint "
Last year when we had a lot of fires in the Lower Valley two friends were driving from Richland toward Prosser. Foolishly the driver drove into a wall of smoke and had to roar through a tunnel of fire for over a mile! By the time they got out of the fire the tires were smoking and the sides of the car were too hot to touch! Close run thing...
#5 One time the Okefenokee was on fire and I had to go repair the copy machine at Steven Foster National Park. There was no fire going in as it was on the other side of the swamp. When I was going out it was like that for about 2 miles. That was the event that made me go to night school to get my college degree.
Worked for my rich cousin who owns a scrape yard in North Dakota. Have worked two different summers for them. Each time I was up there they bought windmill heads for scrap, Forty heads one summer, and eighty heads the next. None of them were over ten or eleven years old, and worn out , and being replaced. Nothing but a money pit! Gary Barnett

#9 Could they add something to the lube oil that would make green smoke?
ReplyDeleteSomething copper-based. That'd be pretty darned nasty for down winders...

I drove thru a field of them in TX Panhandle for a year. Half of them were stationary.

DeleteIf you've never seen Landman, Billy Bob Thorntons character gives the perfectly concise and on target explanation of why those things are a fraud.
DeleteNot enough free money in either one of those.

Delete#3. DEI Pilot.
ReplyDelete#10 Is he pulling onto a scale?
ReplyDeleteDon't think so. But if he was and his wife was with him, he just looks over, "Your fault."
Delete#1 I doubt there was any harm done to that loader, they're pretty tough.

Delete#1- Finally got his "raise" for work well done-
ReplyDelete#9- Windmills could be repurposed to be part of a SSCN (Smoke Signals Communication Network)-

#9 - So called "renewable energy" is a total load of happy horseshit. As is "global warming."
ReplyDeleteIs the Sun renewable?

ReplyDeleteFor my 2nd kid, was working 2 hours away. We were young and silly. Planned it. I did not get a lot of sleep during those times.

ReplyDelete#6 - is that one of those Asian women drivers I keep hearing about?
ReplyDelete6) Her car is just like a turtle on it's back.
ReplyDelete9) Somehow that green energy isn't looking so green.
#6 - Mmmmmm.....she's a straddler.
ReplyDelete#3 ... Just wait, Einstein. Someday you'll be big enough to take that rake to the 'nads, instead.
