That is true. I'm not sure if said edibles were involved but a few years back I remember reading somewhere that a women (hiker)who had been missing had joined her own search party along the way without knowing apparently.
She wasn't high but that actually happened. She split from the group she was with, went back to where they were staying and changed her clothes, rejoined the group and learned they were looking for someone so she joined the search. Took her a little while to realize from the description of the clothing that it was her in the clothes they'd last seen her wearing.
