Don’t expect much from ‘gimmick’ gas tax holiday

President Biden called Wednesday for a “gas tax holiday” — a suspension of the federal gas tax to alleviate consumers’ pain at the pump.

But the move is more political theater than sound economic policy.

  2. 18.4 cents per gallon X 25 gallons = $4.60. I go through 25 gallons a week just driving to work & back; gas here is 5.60 a gallon. So, 4 weeks @ 4.60 a week is $18.40 X 12 weeks….$55.20. Jeez, Joe….I can get almost 10 gallons! At TODAY’S price, you pathetic, vomitous mass. Why even bother?

  3. What is it? 18 cents a gallon? Will bring the cost to me down to around 5 bucks by then.
And, you know they will miss it and have to reinstate it at a greater amount.
Need to start charging battery cars their fair share for road repair

  4. So now, do I have to remove all of the Xiden "I did that" stickers?

  5. I think a lot of pain at the pump could be alleviated if only they would weld two running chipper/shredders, one on either side of his bicycle, as training wheels....well you get the picture.

  6. 18 cents a gallon, BFD. It's a rounding error. How bout a Federal Income Tax Holiday. They don't need it as they just print & spend anyway.

  7. How about just a Tax holiday for the month? Not just income tax. That would put a few hundred bucks back into my pocket.

  8. A 3% discount after more than doubling the price. Thanks Joe.
