Man killed by beaver - no, not that kind.
A fisherman has been bitten to death by a beaver after trying to take its photograph.
The man was on a fishing trip at Lake Shestakov in Belarus with two friends when they spotted the animal on the side of the road.
He stopped so that he could take a picture but as he approached the beaver it pounced on him, biting him in the thigh.
His friends attempted to stem the flow of blood from the wound but the animal’s bite had severed a main artery and the man, who came from Brest, bled to death.
Beaver attacks are rare and according to experts those animals that do go for humans are usually rabid.
However, they are not unheard off.
Earlier this week a video was posted on YouTube showing a man in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow, running away from a beaver who charged at him as he was filming in the area.
Last year in the US two girls were mauled by a beaver in a lake in Virginia as they swam. They suffered serious bite and scratch injuries. A man was also attacked in New York and an elderly woman in Washington.
In 2003 in Belarus a farm manager and farmhand were bitten by a rabid beaver as they tried to chase it from a barn. They survived the attack.
Beavers are the second largest rodents in the world.

Please, PLEASE fly one over me while I'm hunting
PETA Plans to Fly Drones That Would 'Stalk Hunters'
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is actively shopping for a drone that would "stalk hunters," the organization said Monday.
The group says it will "soon have some impressive new weapons at its disposal to combat those who gun down deer and doves" and that it is "shopping for one or more drone aircraft with which to monitor those who are out in the woods with death on their minds."

Dressing small game
Today I'm going to tell you how to skin out and prepare a squirrel, small coon, or rabbit for eating. We're not concerned about saving the hide, just unzipping that motherfucker for dinner, so there's no diagram needed. If you can't follow these simple instructions without a diagram you're too fucking stupid to be around firearms anyways.
Take your dead critter and lay it belly down. Cut off it's little footsies at the knees. If it has a long tail, lop it off. Cut the head off later. Pinch the skin up and make a cut across the back from side to side at the bottom of the ribcage between the meat and the skin, no need to cut across the belly. Stick your index and bird fingers under the skin, raise it up to your chest and pull the hide away from the meat taking care to keep the fur from touching the meat as much as possible. Rabbits skin out easily, coon and squirrel take more effort. Cut off the head now.
Now you should be looking at a nekkid animal. Flip it over on to it's back. Take the tip of your knife and poke it under the skin at the pelvis being careful not to penetrate the intestines because that nasty shit will flat fuck up your meat. Cut up to the ribcage, grab the animal and dump the guts into the sink, cut the diaphragm and then reach up into the chest cavity with a couple of fingers and pull out the heart and lungs and anything else that might be attached. Your final step is to cut away any bloodshot meat, the anus, genitals and glands on the haunches. Do not penetrate the glands - better to cut too deep and lose a little meat than to poke them and fuck it all up.
Rinse the carcass thoroughly, washing away any offal or hair that might be left. Dispose of the hide and guts and clean your sink completely using bleach before your old lady gets home.
DO NOT let your dogs eat any of the guts - parasites can be a killer for them.
To remove any gamey taste in the meat, I like to soak the carcasses in milk overnight before cooking, but in a survival situation this isn't practical.
There you have it - the whole operation (minus the retching) can be performed by a complete novice in less than 10 minutes.

Southern Christian Sportsman's Devotional
Ken,
SCSD held a turkey hunt this weekend for a great group of people. We teamed up with the Wounded Warriors this year and had 2 Marines along with thier families spend the weekend at our farm.
We shot skeet, quail hunted, fished, and hunted turkey. They had a great time and we enjoyed having them. I want to thank everyone that sends donations and volunteers time to help make these trips possible. Attatched is a photo after the quail hunt.
If anyone would like more information they can contact myself or Claude
Thanks again
Eric
Eric's organization, Southern Sportsmen's Christian Devotional, does great work helping out kids with their Dream Hunts.
If you'd like to help out with a donation or just to learn more about them, go to: www.go-scsd.com

Storebought cats? Nah, I'll pass.
You ever get a craving for catfish but don't have any in the freezer so you run down to the store and buy some? Don't.
Chances are it came from Vietnam - they're a major producer of farm raised catfish. Stay the fuck away from it. Wrench sent me a link to a video showing the nasty fucking conditions that they're raised in - it's a wonder Americans aren't dying like flies.
Check it out for yourself.

I probably should've reminded him that at least we have the opportunity to shoot back, after all we're not the ones that allowed ourselves to be disarmed.

The one on the right's a pussy
CARROLLTON, TEXASA neighborhood in Carrollton, Texas is on edge after two bobcats were caught on video nearly fighting. The amateur video, posted online to YouTube, shows the wild cats in a stare-down before they simply walk their separate ways. Homeowners in the area have seen bobcats and coyotes before, but rarely has anyone been so close to the wild animals.
Kevin Martuscello used his smartphone to shoot the video from the safety of a car,CBS Dallas / Fort Worth reports. His father, Mike Martuscello, actually saw the wild cats first, near his front yard. They were both surprised by the size of the animals.
Before the camera was rolling, Mike witnessed the two cats fighting. "They got in a physical fight with each other over there," said the elder Martuscello. "They were clawing and scratching, biting at each other, jumping up and down in the air. It was a wild scene."
"Literally, it was a real cat fight," Mike Martuscello added.

Daaaaamn.......
This is truly incredible video. I can't believe this Osprey got 5-6 fish at a time, then got a flounder
under 3' of water, and then made off with what looks to be a 5+ lb. steel head.
I've never seen a bird shake water off like a dog does.
There are 3 sequences in this one video: 1st sequence he catches half a dozen fish in one strike.
2nd sequence he plunges talons into deep water right to the bottom to grab his prey.
3rd sequence he captures a big old fat fish that looks as if it weighs more than he does!
This is incredible to watch (best viewed in full screen mode)...enjoy.

Dogbreath teaches you how to howl
I own all of Dogbreath's calls - they're so fucking tough that I'm still using the original calls without having to replace them due to cracked bodies or worn out reeds. I was lucky enough to get in on the ground floor with him - I bought one each of his original production run of 500 calls. I've got a call bag that I take with me whenever I go and every fucking one of his calls are in it.
Not only does he sell exceptional gear but he also does videos on using them. Here's one on howling:
If you're new to predator hunting, just want to pick up some tips or need some outstanding calls, go here to http://www.dogbreathcoyotecalls.com/ and browse through it.
He also sells apparel, decals and other neat stuff so you can brag up what your sport is.
If you score something from him, do me a favor and tell him where you saw this and that Wirecutter said hey!, will you?
