The vultures are circling

I cannot fucking believe this shit.
I'm already hearing from regular readers (Jorge, Wrench and Laura) that tell me they've gotten emails from the NRA and Gun Owners of America soliciting money over the tragedy yesterday to help fight the anti-2A bills they know are coming.
Are you fucking kidding me? Those victims are not even in the ground yet and those motherfucking vultures are using them to ask for money? I'm so pissed right now I'm chipping teeth.
If I was a member of either one of those organizations I would print out a copy of their emails and send it to them with my ripped up membership card along with a letter explaining why I quit.
How fucking disrespectful can they get, using childrens' bodies to solicit donations.....

Deer season must be over

I'm so confused......

Hey, check this shit out. I try to give credit to whoever sends me something to post but I'm an old feebleminded fucker and I get a shitload of email every day from readers and I'm having a harder and harder time remembering names, particularly if your email address has your real name but your handle is different.
If you send me something that you think I might want to use, would you please be kind enough to sign your name or handle for me? It'll save me the embarassment of crediting the wrong person. If you would rather stay anonymous, let me know that too.

Today I'm going to talk about thermite.
Possessing thermite is not a crime as long as it's not used or intended to be used in an illegal manner. It's used for cutting metal or welding, so if you do any metal work at all you have a legitimate use for it. I do some lightweight metal working and have used it in the past to cut plate steel - what would take me hours to cut using a cutting wheel (not to mention about a million cutting wheels) can be done in minutes using thermite. It will not make a clean cut (lots of slag) but it beats the hell of changing cutting wheels every 3 minutes. Yes, you can accomplish the same thing by using an arc welder if you have one and cranking up the voltage but sometimes that's not an option.

The military uses thermite to breach metal doors, destroy artillery and mortar tubes and disable vehicles but that's not my purpose here - I'm just trying to educate folks on the fine art of cutting metal. Got it?
Thermite is not an explosive even when contained, it's simply a combination of two common and easily obtained metals that when ignited creates an extremely hot fire that cannot be extinguished by water.

Before I go any further I want to caution you to be extremely careful in all aspects when using thermite. That shit cannot be extinguished, it will burn until the compounds have been exhausted, it showers burning metal once ignited and it's extremely bright and will blind you if you watch it burn. You burn down your fucking garage while cutting metal, it's on you, not me. You have been warned.

There are videos on YouTube showing you how to make it but I'll save you a little time and explain it here, yeah?
Thermite can be made by mixing 8 parts iron oxide (rust) to 3 parts aluminum powder. That's 8 to 3 by weight, not volume. Because aluminum is lighter than the iron oxide it will look like about a 50/50 mix.
If you want moldable thermite (you're cutting something that's upright, like an old safe that you forgot the combination to) mix 4 parts thermite to one part clay. Knead it thoroughly.
Okay, you've got your compounds mixed, you've made your measurements and laid out your mixture in the desired area and it's time to light 'er off. It takes a lot of heat to ignite thermite - your handy Zippo ain't gonna do the trick. Take a sparkler, stick that sucker in there and light it. You can also use a magnesium ribbon to fire it. Magnesium ribbon can be lit with a lighter.

One more time: be extremely careful when using it. It will shower burning metal and it will blind you if you look at it while it's cutting your plate steel. Use welding goggles if you absolutely have to look at it. DO NOT attempt to extinguish it once it starts burning. If you throw any water on it while it's burning, it will cause a steam explosion (the fancy word for that escapes me at the moment) and you'll have hot burning metal everywhere. Trust me on this.

All of the ingredients, including magnesium ribbons, can be obtained from any pyrotechnics website, and aluminum powder can be bought at paint supply stores as it's used for pigment, especially in auto painting. You can make your own rust using steel wool if you so desire but that's more trouble than it's worth.

One more word of caution - do not mix the aluminum powder and iron oxide until you are ready to use it. If you've got a container of it in your shop and it catches fire, you're fucked. If you do have a mixed container and your shop catches fire be sure to tell the responding firemen so they won't spray water on it and cause an explosion injuring or killing themselves.

If you have any further questions about making thermite or how to use it, there are YouTube videos available as well as many articles online such as Wikipedia.

Okay. Again, be safe. Don't use it for anything illegal. Make sure you have plenty of room and no flammables around. Wear goggles. Stay a safe distance away once it starts burning. Have fun.

Gotta get one. Or ten.

Thanks to Stretch for sending this in.

A sign of things to come?

Yeah, so I went into the Big 5 Sporting Goods a few minutes ago to score some 5.56 and their ammo shelves were fucking ravaged, man. No 40, 9mm, or 45 ACP and only one 50 round box of 5.56 which I bought.
Gee, I wonder why?

I have discovered the cause of gayness

It's grandmothers.
Me and Lisa went Christmas shopping for her 3 year old grandson back in Tennessee and while we in the area I went ahead to the Big 5 Sporting Goods to pick up some 5.56, telling her I'd meet up with her inside the store. When I got in there I didn't see her so I went over to the toy section and picked up a package of little green soldiers (all you men know which ones I'm talking about), some tanks, a little Nerf gun to shoot his sister with and a toy tractor/lowboy trailer and then went looking for Lisa. I found her holding up a little fabric doll. "Look" she says "he can color it and then you can wash it out so he can use it again."
I was appalled. "What the fuck? We're buying for Jay, not Jessie, am I right?"
"Well..... yeah......"
"Then leave the goddamned boy shopping to me, Woman. You trying to gay him up or what? He gets guns, soldiers and cars, man."
She drew the line when I started to get him some handcuffs though, saying we'd never find his sister again if we got those. No biggie, I've got some heavy duty wire ties - I'll make him some flex cuffs and slip those into the package when she ain't looking.
Babes, I swear.

Why, I'm shocked! Shocked, I say!

Attorney General Secretly Granted Gov. Ability to Develop and Store Dossiers on Innocent Americans

In a secret government agreement granted without approval or debate from lawmakers, the U.S. attorney general recently gave the National Counterterrorism Center sweeping new powers to store dossiers on U.S. citizens, even if they are not suspected of a crime, according to a news report.

Earlier this year, Attorney General Eric Holder granted the center the ability to copy entire government databases holding information on flight records, casino-employee lists, the names of Americans hosting foreign-exchange students and other data, and to store it for up to five years, even without suspicion that someone in the database has committed a crime, according to the Wall Street Journal, which broke the story.
Whereas previously the law prohibited the center from storing data compilations on U.S. citizens unless they were suspected of terrorist activity or were relevant to an ongoing terrorism investigation, the new powers give the center the ability to not only collect and store vast databases of information but also to trawl through and analyze it for suspicious patterns of behavior in order to uncover activity that could launch an investigation.
The changes granted by Holder would also allow databases containing information about U.S. citizens to be shared with foreign governments for their own analysis.
A former senior White House official told the Journal that the new changes were “breathtaking in scope.”
But counterterrorism officials tried to downplay the move by telling the Journal that the changes come with strict guidelines about how the data can be used.
“The guidelines provide rigorous oversight to protect the information that we have, for authorized and narrow purposes,” Alexander Joel, Civil Liberties Protection Officer for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, told the paper.
The NCTC currently maintains the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment database, or TIDE, which holds data on more than 500,000 identities suspected of terror activity or terrorism links, including friends and families of suspects, and is the basis for the FBI’s terrorist watchlist.
Under the new rules issued in March, the NCTC can now obtain almost any other government database that it claims is “reasonably believed” to contain “terrorism information.” This could conceivably include collections of financial forms submitted by people seeking federally backed mortgages or even the health records of anyone who sought mental or physical treatment at government-run hospitals, such as Veterans Administration facilities, the paper notes.
The Obama administration’s new rules come after previous surveillance proposals were struck down during the Bush administration, following widespread condemnation.
In 2002, the Pentagon’s Total Information Awareness program proposed to scrutinize both government and private databases, but public outrage killed the program in essence, though not in spirit. Although Congress de-funded the program in 2003, the NSA continued to collect and sift through immense amounts of data about who Americans spoke with, where they traveled and how they spent their money.
The Federal Privacy Act prohibits government agencies from sharing data for any purpose other than the reason for which the data was initially collected, in order to prevent the creation of dossiers, but agencies can do an end-run around this restriction by posting a notice in the Federal Register, providing justification for the data request. Such notices are rarely seen or contested, however.
The changes to the rules for the NCTC were sought in large part after authorities failed to catch Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab before he boarded a plane on Christmas Day in 2009 with explosives sewn into his underwear. Abdulmutallab wasn’t on the FBI watchlist, but the NCTC had received tips about him, and yet failed to search other government databases to connect dots that might have helped prevent him from boarding the plane.
As the NCTC tried to remedy that situation for later suspects, legal obstacles emerged, the Journal reports, since the center was only allowed to query federal databases for a specific name or a specific passenger list. “They couldn’t look through the databases trolling for general ‘patterns,’” the paper notes.
But the request to expand the center’s powers led to a heated debate at the White House and the Department of Homeland Security, with Mary Ellen Callahan, then-chief privacy officer for the Department of Homeland Security, leading the charge to defend civil liberties. Callahan argued that the new rules represented a “sea change” and that every interaction a citizen would have with the government in the future would be ruled by the underlying question, is that person a terrorist?
Callahan lost her battle, however, and subsequently left her job, though it’s not known if her struggle over the NCTC debate played a role in her decision to leave.

Yup, I'm sure that every ammo purchase you made using your debit or credit cards, every gun you've bought, your food purchases, books you've bought, purchases at surplus stores and sites, amounts of gasoline and diesel and where they were purchased, comms equipment, chemicals, everything has been stored.
Hell, I bet they even have a dossier on me because of my peace-loving pro-government blog.....

Oh, man......

Man, I went outside to go to work yesterday morning and groaned. Somebody had been fucking with my truck - threw milk or something all over it and to top it off, had fucked with my door lock so I couldn't even put my key in the door.
Goddammit...... then I realized what it was. Frost. This had happened a couple years ago too. I wish Al Gore and his assholes would get on with this global warming bullshit, I ain't used to this cold weather.
If it starts snowing I'm really gonna be pissed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a snow hater - I just don't like it when it snows on me. If I want to see snow I want to go to it, not have it delivered.

A Man among men

ASHBURN, Va. -- Robert Griffin III has always seen the entire field with his beyond-his-years clarity.
That aplomb was evident again Wednesday when the charismatic Redskins rookie refused to be defined by race in answering three questions relating to the topic at the end of his news conference.
Griffin acknowledged his appreciation for black Washington Redskins fans proud of his transformative debut season -- and noted how he hopes to erase lingering stereotypes concerning African-American quarterbacks.
"For me, you don't ever want to be defined by the color of your skin,'' Griffin said at the end of Wednesday's post-practice news conference in reference to a question about Martin Luther King, Jr. "You want to be defined by your work ethic, the person that you are, your character, your personality. That's what I've tried to go out and do.
"I am an African-American in America. That will never change. But I don't have to be defined by that.''

I am not a fan of organized sports, never have been and never will be. I am however, a fan of Men of vision and wisdom and here is such a man.

Poor CharlieGodammit

Damned dog is down to skin and bones. I just weighed him and he only weighs 112 pounds. Poor baby. I should probably feed him more, huh?
I don't weigh him very often because he hates to be picked up almost as much as I hate picking him up - he sees me haul out the scales and the first thing he does is lay down and go limp and it's a bitch picking up 100+ pounds of dead weight. And please don't tell me to take him to a feed store to weigh him, the last time I did it was ugly - just how the hell was I supposed to know they were keeping lambs inside the store?

Good thing she landed on her head - no damage done

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who skipped an overseas trip this past week because of a stomach virus, sustained a concussion after fainting, the State Department said Saturday.
The 65-year-old Clinton, who's expected to leave her job soon after serving as America's top diplomat during President Barack Obama's first term, is recovering at home after the incident last week and is being monitored by doctors, according to a statement by aide Philippe Reines.

No further details were immediately available.

The statement said Clinton was dehydrated because of the virus and that she fainted and sustained a concussion. She will continue to work from home in the week ahead and looks forward to being back in the office "soon," the statement said.

Congressional aides do not expect her to testify as scheduled at congressional hearings on Thursday into the Sept. 11 attack against a U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador.
How convenient that she's not expected to testify as scheduled.....

John Kerry - your new Secretary of State

President Barack Obama has chosen Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts to be the next secretary of state, a source has told Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed.
His replacement as head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will be Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey, the Sneed source said.
Well, I guess he fits the criteria - he's a fucking liar and full blown liberal.
I remember when he was running for president a few years back and appeared before a crowd of union members wearing a brand spanking new Carhartt coat to show that he was a working man - that coat was so stiff and clean that it was obvious that it was bought just for that event and he looked so fucking uncomfortable and unnatural in it
When the Swift Boat controversy was raging, I went to the library and borrowed his book (no way was I going to buy it) and couldn't even get half way through it. It was so full of bullshit and fawning over the Kennedys that I got sick to my stomach.
He's a man that was born and raised wealthy, never worked a day in his life and has no idea at all of what it's like to do without. He's a man who's goal in life was to become a career politician and thanks to that cocksucker Obama, he's stepping right on up the ladder.

Fuck the MSM

I will not post on the shootings itself because I do not know all the facts, only what I've heard from MSM and we all know how "accurate" they can be - when I first heard about it yesterday I was reading the account on a friends' phone and it reported 27 dead 3rd graders killed with 2 handguns - so please go elsewhere for the "facts".

I will be posting on the aftermath however and unfortunately I'm thinking I'll have plenty of material for that.

You tell 'em

An ABC News editorial producer earned the online equivalent of a hard slap to the face Friday, after she used Twitter to approach two people for interviews who were painfully close to the morning massacre of a Connecticut elementary school.
Nadine Shubailat tweeted interview requests to a man who said his “good friend” had a child in kindergarten at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and to a woman whose cousin was a first-grade teacher killed in the Friday morning gun rampage.
In the second case, Shubailat was not the only reporter to go after a victim’s relative. A second ABC producer, a New York Times reporter and a Los Angeles-based producer of a YouTube-only news program also approached the grieving woman for interviews just hours after her 22-year-old relative was shot to death.
Shubailat’s LinkedIn profile boasts that she books interview subjects for Diane Sawyer, George Stephanopoulos, Barbara Walters, Robin Roberts, Jake Tapper, Bob Woodruff and other ABC journalists. It also says she was previously a senior producer for “Larry King Live,” and the press secretary to Queen Noor of Jordan.
“[C]an we talk to your friend who lives in Sandy Hook and whose daughter goes to kindergarten?” Shubailat asked Twitter user @artayd2 at 1:52 p.m., according to archived Twitter records. “I’m w [with] ABC News.”

Her target had tweeted that his friend “lives 10 minutes from Sandy Hook Elementary and has a daughter in kindergarten.”
@artayd2′s response was instantaneous and blunt, telling Shubailat to “eat a dick.”

Attached photo was sent to me by one of my old hunting buddies in PA. I x'd out the name of the hunting camp so they won't have the PETA freaks fucking up their hunt next year. He took it with his phone so the clarity isn't that great.

Why you should never talk to a cop

I saw (and probably posted) these a couple of years ago and it is well worth the time that it takes to watch, especially for you dumbasses out there that believe that Mr. Policeman is your friend.
Please watch them. If you don't have the time right now, bookmark this post and come back to it when you do. PAY ATTENTION!!!!!
Personally, I wouldn't give the time of day to a cop. Seeing as I don't want or need their fucking "protection", the only reason one would have to make contact with me would be to arrest me. Fuck 'em.

Fucking city folks, I swear.

BANGOR, Maine — When Josh Plourde of Bangor saw a van parked on Harlow Street around midnight on Tuesday, he noticed the flashing hazard lights and saw that all four doors of the vehicle were open.
What he saw when he stopped to offer assistance was a bit of a surprise: A bobcat was hiding under the van.
“I guess what happened was a woman was driving in Veazie on Route 2 and she hit what she thought was a house cat,” Plourde said. “It was still alive and was kind of hurt. So she pulled over to the side and scooped it up and put it in the car, thinking that it was hurt and was out in the wild. She wanted to help it.”
The problem: The animal was not only in the wild. It was wild.
“By the time she got to downtown Bangor she realized what she had put in her car was not in fact a house cat,” Plourde said.
The woman was understandably distressed. She parked next to Bangor City Hall and opened up all the doors of her vehicle in order to let the cat escape. It did, partially, scurrying out of the van and hiding underneath it.
Plourde said the woman didn’t have a cellphone, so he called police, who responded. Maine Game Warden Jim Fahey also responded to the call.
According to the police report, Officer John Robinson of the Bangor Police Department actually happened upon the car during a routine downtown patrol.
Bangor police Sgt. Bob Bishop, Sgt. Larry Weber and Officer Gary Decker also responded to the incident. Bishop used a catch pole to secure the bobcat until Fahey arrived.
Fahey said he spoke with Bishop and learned that the cat was severely injured.
“I saw it had a hip and/or leg injury and was unable to walk,” Fahey said. “My estimation was it was going to be a mortal wound.”
The bobcat was humanely euthanized, Fahey said. The driver hadn’t committed any crime and no charges were filed.
“In my experience, when you have a full-sized vehicle [striking] a 20-pound animal, there’s a lot going on there. It’s not just a sprained hip,” said Fahey, who said the cat likely suffered serious internal injuries, as well.
Fahey said the bobcat was a small adult. Both he and the Bangor Police Department cautioned the public, warning well-meaning people to avoid handling animals, whether wild or domesticated.
“Although this [case] seems amusing, one should always be careful handling injured animals and call [the] local animal control officer or game wardens when in doubt,” Bangor Police Sgt. Paul Edwards wrote in a news release.
Fahey agrees.
“If they feel strongly about [doing something], they could certainly report the incident so that there’s no undue suffering on behalf of the animal,” Fahey said. “But I’m not going to suggest people handle a wild animal. Rabies, bites, scratches. There are a lot of reasons not to handle a wild animal.”

A flaming Kalifornia liberal speaks

A letter to the editor from our local smut sheet:

The writer of the Dec. 1 letter "We're worried, not whining" warns fellow conservatives to be "deeply concerned" so long as Barack Obama is in the White House. She sounds a call to arms to preserve "liberty," "religious freedom," "right to life," "God-designed marriage," "one nation under God," "the Constitution," "the rule of law," etc.
All this is worth fighting for, then she throws down the gauntlet: "What are liberals and Democrats fighting for?"
I've got one: How about fighting to make sure that someday every child in America has something to eat before starting the school day? Doesn't sound as patriotic as the previous letter writer's manifesto, but, as Gandhi says, "God would not dare appear to a starving man except in the form of bread."

Maybe if we followed the things that you're whining about, the kids wouldn't be so goddamned hungry - their parents would have enough fucking ambition to support their families. As it is, the only thing those kids are being taught by giving them free shit is to rely on somebody else to provide for them.

Big Sis is listening

The era of private conversations on city buses — and even on San Francisco’s iconic streetcars — may be coming to an end.
Government officials are quietly installing sophisticated audio surveillance systems on public buses across the country to eavesdrop on passengers, according to documents obtained by The Daily. Plans to implement the technology are under way in cities from San Francisco to Hartford, Conn., and Eugene, Ore., to Columbus, Ohio.
Linked to video cameras already in wide use, the microphones will offer a formidable new tool for security and law enforcement. With the new systems, experts say, transit officials can effectively send an invisible police officer to transcribe the individual conversations of every passenger riding on a public bus.
But the deployment of the technology on buses raises urgent questions about the boundaries of legally protected privacy in public spaces, experts say, as transit officials — and perhaps law enforcement agencies given access to the systems — seem positioned to monitor audio communications without search warrants or court supervision.

Anybody that assumes they have a Right to privacy in a public place is a fool. As soon as I walk out of my house I assume I'm on camera, and I always take precautions against eavesdropping, even in my own truck.
The best way to prevent eavesdropping? Shut your fucking mouth.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you don't know how to use a map and compass, learn. Too many people rely on GPS nowadays and if things fall apart, the military will more than likely shut down GPS for civilians. Remember, they own those fucking satellites.
The government giveth and the government taketh away.

It's not that difficult to learn to triangulate your position and to shoot an azimuth/back azimuth to get to where you need to be. There's several good websites that'll teach you how and then all you need is a little open country to practice in. After you get confident, move into the woods. There's even orienteering clubs that you can join - learn something and get some exercise at the same time although they tend to freak out when you show up with your web gear and a rifle slung across your back. Just sayin'......
The equipment is cheap - a lensatic compass, a map and a piece of clothesline for a pace cord. You can buy everything you need for under 50 bucks.

CharlieGodammit - The Early Years

At least I wasn't abducted by aliens

I was walking down a crowded street last night in the dark, unarmed and feeling very uncomfortable with the circumstances - people bumping into me and putting their hands on me when suddenly somebody came up from behind and threw their arms my chest and tried to throw me to the ground. I planted both feet, leaned forward a bit then twisted and gave him an elbow shot to the ribs as hard as I could.
"OW!!!" hollered Lisa as I sat straight up in bed, jaw and fists clenched.

Lisa? Lisa!!! Oh no, I was having a bad dream and hammered Lisa right in the ribs. Oh, shit. Thank God I was bound up with the covers and didn't hit her as hard as I was trying to.
Man, I felt horrible. I've never hit a woman in my life and here I've gone and popped my wife over a nightmare. I apologized over and over again until she told me to shut the fuck up and go back to sleep.
This morning over breakfast I noticed she was rubbing her ribs and I apologized again.
"Honey, it's okay, really. It was a bad dream. Quit worrying, it's just a little sore." I was breathing a little easier when she said that and then she continued "I'll pay you back tonight, don't worry."
Oh man.......

San Francisco? Rough sex party gone bad?

A man is dead after he and a woman were found bound and gagged in the middle of a street in San Francisco's Bayview District Sunday night.
A motorist driving on Brussels Street saw the two people lying on the road and called the police around 8:30 p.m., San Francisco officer Albie Esparza told NBC News.
Both were found bound and gagged. The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was unconscious. The woman, also believed to be in her early 20s, was "out of it," Esparza said. The pair were taken to the hospital, where the man died and the woman remains in critical condition.

It doesn't say if the guy had been butt-fucked. Of course, it being San Francisco, they would've had to determine if it had been a recent butt-fucking.....

One of my favorite sites

One of the sites that I hit every day without fail is Homestead Survival for tips and their every day free (at the time of the posting) Kindle books.
Some of the tips are extremely simple but absolutely brilliant - for example: keeping small amounts of spices in free sturdy waterproof see-through resealable packages. Are you ready for this?
Uh-huh. Drinking straws. Yeah I know, I never thought of it either, but what a great idea for traveling, Git Kits and short term prepping. Not limited to just spices, you can also store seeds or damned near anything else you can cram in there.

Go over and check it out and look at their free books. Some of them are fairly short how-to books, but I have picked up several full length novels. Don't have a Kindle? Don't trip, there's also a download at the end of the books post so you can read them on your Nook or PC.

Thanks to Woody for turning me on to the site.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The tragic story of former Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher seems to be having a profound effect on some players around the league.
Belcher, the Long Island native who fatally shot his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself on December 1, shook the football world upside down when he committed murder-suicide.
And now, players are taking action to prevent further unthinkable incidents from occurring.
During Week 14′s coverage of Football Night in America, Peter King reported that multiple NFL players have turned in their firearms as a result of the Belcher tragedy.
“I’ve been told that in the last seven days, at least seven players around the league have gone to their team’s security officers to turn in the firearms that they possess from their homes,” King said during the broadcast. “I’m also told that one of these players had multiple firearms, as Jovan Belcher did — he had eight … He told his security officer, ‘I don’t trust myself with these guns in the house. Please take them away.’”

And this just goes to show that you don't have to be intelligent to play football.

Your wife's a liberal? Go away.

I got an email a little bit ago from a guy that mentioned that he'd like to get together sometime and meet up but we can't discuss politics if his wife's around because she's a liberal.
I wrote back and told him to divorce his wife if he really wants to meet me.
OpSec is my primary concern here. If you're married to or seeing a liberal, stay the hell away from me. Sorry, but pillow talk is a motherfucker. Plain and simple. She may not hurt you but she can get me killed or jailed with false allegations and accusations if she feels I'm leading you down the wrong path. I ain't playing that shit.

Columbus Police sprayed Mace on several people in a crowd that had gathered to sign up for a list to get subsidized housing at a northwest Columbus apartment complex.
Police said the crowd started to gather Friday night for the Saturday morning event at The Heritage apartment complex on Gatewood Road near Sunbury Road in northeast Columbus.
Authorities said that its highest number, the crowd reached 2,000 people.
Residents in the area called police overnight and complained about the noise and number of cars in the neighborhood.
According to police, a melee broke out when the manager of the complex started to set up for the event just before 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
Several individuals were sprayed with Mace by police and treated at the scene by emergency crews.
Police did not report making any arrests.

I read in the local smut sheet a while back that there's a 2-3 year wait for subsidized (Section 8) housing in this area and when they announce sign-ups, people start camping in front of the offices 2 or 3 days beforehand.
A 2 or 3 year wait, and instead of using that time to improve their financial conditions so they wouldn't have to live in those slums, they camp out to sign up.
It's a fucking way of life around here to have the gov't (and ME!) support them. Disgraceful.....
