My day (don't get jealous)

Man, what a boring, lazy day. Temps in the mid 70s, just perfect for laying around all day not doing a damned thing except reading a novel. Checked my mail and did a post or two earlier but other than that........?
Hell yeah.

Skidmark's making WAY too much sense here
"If you are confronted with an aggressor, he's coming into your room, you may have to take action," he told the group.
"Study your surroundings for a possible weapon."
In a school?!?
I thought you got expelled, or at least suspended, for having a weapon.  You know, like a Pop Tart, or green plastic soldiers on top of cupcakes, or (heaven forbid!) a Hello Kitty! bubble gun.
And fighting in a school?  That will certainly get expelled.  Break out windows to escape the building?  You will be lucky if you are merely suspended and not charged with either vandalism or terroristic behavior.  And made to pay for replacing the window - which you won't be able to do because you lost your job when you didn't show up because you are serving your sentence in jail or in prison.
Oh, and check the picture at the topic of the article.  See that guy wearing a gun in the school?  Know why he is wearing it?  Because he's a police officer, and he knows that because the school is in a Gun Free Zone it is a dangerous place to be.  So, if a cop knows school GFZs are dangerous places and he carries a gun there, how come we can't?  (Don't answer that - it's a rhetorical question designed just get you thinking.)
Seriously, tax dollars are being spent to encourage people to do these things?  Someone has some 'splaining to do, as Ricky Ricardo used to say.
stay safe.
If Pro-Gunners were as violent as Anti-Gunners say they are, logic would dictate that there would be no Anti-Gunners left.

All right!!! Getting hits from IRAN now!!!

Now it was my understanding that internet use is severely restricted in Iran so I'm assuming this must've come from a government source.

Bacon. Mmmmm, bacon.....

Got this from Jimbo Blue:

It’s bacon fever—catch it!
This is what happens when you put the choice of concessions into the hands of fans. The West Michigan Whitecaps, a minor-league baseball team that is an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, asked its supporters to vote for its top ballpark snack.
The highest vote-getter of its fourth annual food contest: the Baco, a taco with a shell made wholly from bacon.

The best of the best?

A SWAT team in upstate New York is being mocked as an example of the difference between military and police training after an officer was captured peering through a backwards sight on his combat rifle.

As users on the military Reddit were quick to point out when the image was posted, the reverse sight makes it effectively useless.
Users mocked the SWAT officers training and some went so far as to question the motives of some of the men serving in local law enforcement.
The officer is using a 'military style' assault weapon with a close quarters combat sight that costs roughly $500.
'It's disturbing to think that 1) none of his buddies corrected it, and 2) he's in a real-life situation with his optic on backwards, which means he's never fired that rifle with the optic on it, which means it isn't zeroed and he thought it was OK to show up to a gunfight with an unzeroed weapon,' wrote one Reddit user.

*****

Not only did he not zero the weapon but apparently never even looked through the sight. But he looks cooler than shit in his military style gear, doesn't he?
Let me also point out that one of his teammates is holding a shotgun with his gloved finger on the trigger and if that ain't an accident waiting to happen, I don't know what is.

Ammo drought

How bad is the ammo drought? Last week, I saw a picture of a 100 round box of 9mm on the side of a milk carton.
-Skidmark

I do know this - today at work Janet the traffic clerk told me that her sister bought a 9mm but there was a slight problem. She can't find ammo for it, so basically she's got a $900 club.
I turned her on to Ammoseek.com and bulkammo.com and wished her luck. She'll be able to find some there, but she's gonna wait on it and then she's gonna pay through the nose for it.
Fuck, I'm glad I prepped for this shit.

Another tip from your ol' buddy Wirecutter

I keep hearing that the proper way to reload a 1911 is to drop the empty magazine, let it fall, insert a new magazine then rack the slide with your left hand and begin shooting again.
Bullshit. Do all of the above steps except racking the slide with your support hand. That requires an extra motion. Use the fucking slide release - not the stock slide release but an extended one.
I popped an extended slide release on my 45 twenty years ago and have never looked back. Afraid of it hanging up on your holster or clothing? Dehorn it. If you fuck it up, buy another one. They're cheap, 35 bucks from Wilsons. Order it HERE from Brownells.
Look, it's a drop-in part. No fitting required and that second or two you save getting back into action may save your life. There is no disadvantage to using it - I've had one on my 45 for 20+ years now and I carry my pistol in an inside-the-pants holster most of the time. I have never had it snag on anything. Period.
When it comes time for that slide to return to battery, I'm already back on the sights, I hit that extended slide release with my thumb and dump another magazine back downrange. That quick - no shifting the gun in my hand at all.
You're welcome.

And as soon as I get this fucker posted, Orbitup sends me a link from his blog showing where he posted the same damned thing 2 months ago.

Keads brought up a very valid point in the comments.

I'll buy that. I also tell students that racking the slide is a universal thing that may help if they shoot and carry different handguns. Just saying.

Thanks for that thought. I never really considered it as I own one automatic carry gun. But it's also something to keep in mind if you do have to pick up an unfamiliar firearm in a stressful situation. The second or five you waste trying to find out how to drop the slide might be the death of you.
Thank you.

How cool is this?

A medieval headstone and skeleton have been found underneath a parking lot in Scotland, and researchers believe they might belong to a knight.
Archaeologists who were on hand during the construction of a new building in Edinburgh uncovered a carved sandstone slab, decorated with markers of nobility — a Calvary cross and a sword. Nearby, the team found an adult skeleton, which is thought to have once occupied the grave. Scientists plan to analyze the bones and teeth to learn more about this possible knight or nobleman.
"We hope to find out more about the person buried in the tomb once we remove the headstone and get to the remains underneath, but our archaeologists have already dated the gravestone to the thirteenth century," Richard Lewis, a member of the City of Edinburgh Council, said in a statement.
"This find has the potential to be one of the most significant and exciting archaeological discoveries in the city for many years, providing us with yet more clues as to what life was like in medieval Edinburgh."

WH tips on How to survive an Obama drone attack

-Rurik

Groan.....

A man went to his friend's costume party wearing nothing but a pair of pants.
His friend asks "I give up, what are you supposed to be?"
"Why, I'm a premature ejaculation" he replies.
His buddy asks "Okay, but where are your shirt and boots?"
"I just came in my pants" the guy laughs.

-Rob

Who gives a fuck what other people think?

Me and Mom was sitting down over dinner and I mentioned that tomorrow would've been Pop's 73rd Birthday.
Mom said she was making his favorite dinner, corned beef and cabbage and taking it to the cemetery and having lunch with him. "People are going to think I'm weird but....."
"Fuck 'em" I interrupted.
"I love you, Son."
"Love you too, Mom"

From Rurik:

The cop was too lenient in my opinion

A Maryland woman was shocked after she received a traffic ticket on Interstate 95 — because it wasn't for speeding.
In fact, she was driving 2 mph under the speed limit.
The driver, who didn’t want her name used, told NBC Washington she was driving in the left lane of I-95 in Laurel last Friday when she was pulled over and cited for failing to move right.
According to the citation, she had been driving 63 mph in a 65 mph zone.

*****

Personally, I feel that if she was going 2 mph under the speed limit while traveling in the fast lane, she shouldn't have gotten a ticket - she deserved to be shot.
Nothing pisses me off more than some stupid motherfucker putting along at or below the speed limit in the fast lane, particularly if they're right next to a truck and not allowing anybody to pass.
Yeah, we know you're cool, you've got cruise control, now step on the gas and get the fuck out of my way.

Thank you

You taught me to say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning in school.
You taught me the story of our Nation.
You told me about the symbolism of our Flag.
You taught me US History.
You taught me US Government.
You gave me an Oath to take.
You had me face the flag and salute every night at Retreat.
You taught me honor and love of Country.
For that I thank you
but now you blame me for what I am.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Environmentalists are pushing legislation to ban lead ammunition in California to prevent toxins from poisoning scavengers that eat animal remains left by hunters.
Final language of the bill was introduced Monday by Assembly Member Anthony Rendon, D-Lakewood, who said the legislation would remove a lingering source of pollution from the environment. It was sponsored by three major environmental groups — Defenders of Wildlife,Audubon California, and the Humane Society of the United States.
"There really is no question that lead ammo is a threat," said Kim Delfino of Defenders of Wildlife. "To pass a bill in California would set the stage for this happening throughout the country, the way low-emissions vehicle standards changed the market nationwide."

They tried this before and the NRA fought them long and hard on it...... then the NRA compromised as is their habit and allowed them to create a lead-free zone (that takes up the western half of the state) in condor habitat. Of course as condor habitat spreads because they're protected..... well, you can guess the rest.
Fuck the NRA. Kill a condor.

Wrong. Bacon wins. Bacon ALWAYS wins.

Compromise my ass

From the middle of the post:
You cannot "protect" a right while calling for limitations on it.
I have a constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms. SCOTUS says so. I'm sorry it makes you feel uncomfortable. At this point, your options are education on the subject, or therapy. Otherwise, you're trying to negotiate away my rights in exchange for…what? A "compromise" requires each side to give something. So what are you going to give me in exchange?
I've never heard anyone from your side (well-intended or not) offer a "compromise." What they want is for me to give up something I have, in exchange for…nothing.
No. Happy now?
No? Oh, I'm sorry. How about "No"?
You're not getting what you want. End of discussion. You have nothing to offer, and it wouldn’t matter if you did.
Consider: What can the hardcore fundamentalists offer as a compromise for ending abortion? What can they offer in exchange for outlawing recognition for gay partners? What can they offer in exchange for outlawing pornography?
See the problem? You want 100% of what you have, and 50% of what I have. When you talk about "weapons of easy mass murder," you're conflating the concept with guns that I own, and guns that my teenage kids have owned since they were seven years old http://olegvolk.livejournal.com/551736.html
http://www.michaelzwilliamson.com/images/linked/EricBee2.jpg. Perfectly normal, common, guns, of the kind that shoot bullets, like every other gun. You do want to take those away from me, or make it more complicated for me to own them, and in exchange, you're offering me nothing.
So, it's not a compromise, so there is nothing to discuss.
And, SCOTUS says it's a constitutional right on my part. So again…nothing to discuss.
There's a lot of good stuff before and after, so go read the whole thing.
stay safe.

RE: Federal action against patriot groups in US

Today at 10AM there was a very large meeting at the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) headquarters in Clarksburg, WV. The meeting was held in an auditorium and included everyone – from agents to the secretaries. The meeting was organized by the Director of the Biometric Identification Management Agency (BIMA), Colonel Bolo (ret.).

Bolo summarized the purchase of 24 new armored vehicles (each costing $400k) and the recent appearance of 20 mobile headquarters that are now present at the facility. The mobile units are semi-trailers with attached generators in the front; are of a shiny, mirrored-silver finish; and have no identifiable markings on them at all. There are 20 of them parked (visibly in front) at 1000 Cluster Hollow Rd, Clarksburg, WV as of today. Additionally, there are 24 armored cars (the same ones we have seen with DHS markings) parked in a different lot on this property, but they too may be visible.

The Colonel went into great detail on a list of patriot/constitutional groups. According to witnesses, this is a list that may be identical or very close to the one put out by the SPLC but had over 1000 groups on it. He explained that although groups may take advantage of the 2nd Amendment debate to garner followers now, at the heart of all these organizations is a racist core; one that poses a threat and will need to be dealt with soon. This is when he tied the armored cars and mobile command trailers to ‘the mission’.

The armored cars (those at the facility and nationwide) are to effect high-risk warrants on the ringleaders of the listed various groups with command centers being placed as necessary. The DHS and FBI are planning to move at one time against the listed groups; with SWAT teams being utilized against the more threatening ones. The colonel explained that all these groups have been successfully infiltrated and the leaders identified. He also explained that this is part of the new Internal Security Force that the president has been alluding to. In answering a question from an attendee regarding the mass purchase of ammo, he also stated that the buildup of arms and ammo was specifically for this ‘mission’.

The witness has told me that after the meeting, everyone they seen were against this. People were complaining, shaking their head in disbelief, and asking what the heck going on. According to them, NOBODY (including federal agents present) planned on going along with this and many even talked about how this will ignite a war.

The report I received can be verified through any personal contacts you may have at this center or connected to the agencies mentioned. You may also visibly inspect the lot for these trailers by driving to the location in Clarksburg. The witness was extremely bothered by the meeting and has said ‘it is coming and a hell of a lot sooner than people think’.

I used to think that mass roundups would never happen – but with this new information, I can clearly see that this is exactly what is going to happen (at least to a certain number of militia/patriot groups). And inevitably, any action this crazy will result in a reaction by others. The specter of Civil War in this country is a real and present danger folks – prepare.

NOTE: I did ask a whole bunch of additional questions which hopefully will be answered soon.

12 Gauge birdshot damage

I got an email the other night from Steve and somewhere down the line he mentioned being shot with a 12 gauge loaded with birdshot at close range and how devastating it was.
Then he sent pictures and the story. Holy shit.
Story first:

Thats my left shoulder. Story is: my son in law and I were at the range, and he HAD to have me shoot his AK47. Now, I believe they should be allowed under the 2A, but i like my .22, .410, and LOVE my .12 GA due to its versatility of rounds.  SO. While I shot his AK47 (which WAS pretty cool) he went through some shells on my shotgun, going from slugs to birdshot, to see what each round could do. The wives called and told us boys it was time to come home, and I pulled the clip and emptied the chamber, and loaded his AK in the trunk, noticing my shotgun was already stored.   When I got home late that evening, I grabbed the shotgun to take it out, and the trigger caught on the jack handle. Result: BIG BOOM. and a birdshot round litterally REMOVED my shoulder socket, shattered the bone halfway down to the elbow, and left the inside of my shoulder blade looking like baby swiss....

Lessons known:
1. treat every gun as loaded
2. an unloaded gun is a worthless gun
3. always transport your weapon empty unless you even THINK you may need it

Lessons learned:
1. my son in law is an idiot
2. even an ex-marine doesn't necessarily know what he's doing (which I should have realized 2 years ago when he shot his left finger off with a .45 pistol
3. put the fucking gun in a CASE or lock the trigger and
4. just because someone is NOW a cop, don't mean shit. (actually I DID know that, this just confirmed it!)

Now for the graphic pictures:

1. After irrigation to clean the area

2. debris removed (note shell wadding in lower left)

3. what they replaced it wif

4. hooking it all together, or what there is left to hook up anyway.

And finally, the end result:

CHICAGO — A 5-month-old girl and her father were shot Monday afternoon as the man changed the baby's diaper in the Woodlawn neighborhood, authorities said.
The baby was rushed to Comer Children's Hospital, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. Relatives gathered there identified the baby as Johnylah Watkins. She's the daughter of 25-year-old Jonathan Watkins and Judy Watkins, 21, who herself was shot several months ago while pregnant with Johnylah.
Both father and daughter were in serious-to-critical condition, police said.

*****

Further down in the article it says that the father is a known gang member. But a proliferation of guns will be getting the blame, you watch.
So in a few years, Daddy, Mama and Little Johnylah can sit around and compare bullet holes.
Hey, you reap what you sow.

"Well, I ain't doing THAT again"

Want to see Mooch get punked out hard?

Michelle Obama announced via her Twitter feed that she’d be taking questions this morning at 11:05 a.m. EST on her always-absurd “Let’s move” campaign.

Ask, and ye shall receive. Since they are givers, happy warriors got the questions rolling early. Let’s move? Let’s move toward truth and accountability.
And so it began, kicking off with questions about Benghazi. Yes, once again Twitter users are doing the job that most in the media won’t do.

Go HERE to read it for yourself. I tried to copy-n-paste some of the better ones but it wouldn't let me. But hey, that's cool because once you saw some of them here you were going to go there anyways. It's fucking hilarious - these folks have no mercy whatsoever.

And then there's this comment below the story:
If your rumored run in 2016 was successful, how long would you blame the previous administration for the sorry state of the union?

Damn it, tricked again.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) evidently did not recognize Mattera, a conservative video journalist and senior investigative reporter for Talk Radio Network, who infamously confronted Vice President Joe Biden in the Capitol. (Mattera introduced himself to Schakowsky by name but did not indicate that he was filming or that he is conservative.) She spoke to Mattera as if he were a fellow gun control enthusiast--and Mattera played along, eliciting answers about Schakowsky’s enthusiasm for gun control.

Go HERE for the story.

'nother one

For the second time within a week, police are investigating reports of an unmanned drone spotted flying over New York within three miles of LaGuardia Airport.
According to journalist Christopher Robbinspolice scanner audio revealed that the NYPD was called to look into an “unusual incident” concerning reports of a “drone flying” near exit 23 of the Long Island Expressway (LIE).
According to Robbins, the NYPD later reported a “negative result” after investigating the incident, although it is unclear whether this means they couldn’t identify the drone or had discounted the report altogether.

Need some help here - Can you identify this?

Bob's father was a WWII veteran and in an email tonight he mentioned a double barrel pistol that his father brought back from Germany and is curious as to what kind it is. I told him I'd post it to see if any of you would be kind enough to identify it for him. Here's part of the email and a photo:

*****

One thing I inherited from him is a pistol that I have yet to identify.  There is no indication at all of who made it, what country, no serial number, nothing on this double barrel pistol to identify it. I took the wooden handles off and nothing underneath either.  The only stamping is a "32C" on top of the barrels.  We also have a letter from the Dept. of the Army stating that it was brought back from Germany.  Some friends from Germany told us that couldn't be as caliber begins in "k" in German.
If you two have any ideas what on earth it is, and more importantly, if its worth a million, please let me know... :)
Bob
