Your Friday Evening Florida Report

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. – A 21-year-old softball player is accused of intentionally clipping another player with his car after leaving an adult softball game in a huff, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

A Lake County deputy was watching a softball game Monday night at Cales Park in Fruitland Park when they saw a Dodge Challenger driving at a high speed down Century Avenue in a reckless manner. The deputy reported they could hear the tires screeching and the vehicle suddenly turned toward a woman walking in the grass. The deputy said the vehicle looked to be inches from hitting her.

Again, something a little different.

Over the past few months, the posts on Fridays at 8 PM have been concerts of classic rock or country. I'm not sure how many of you actually listen to the whole concert, so I'm just going to post a few songs from now on.

Another thing that's a little different about tonight's post is that it ain't classic rock or country.

Over the past year or so, I've found quite a few youngsters (to me, anyways) that are playing country or hillbilly music that's not even close to that pop country shit playing on the radio nowadays. One of them is a young lady named Sierra Ferrell out of West Virginia. She's a whiz on the guitar and has a great voice range and Nate Leahy, the guy that accompanies her on the fiddle, is pretty damned good himself.
I don't like everything she does, but the shit I do like, I really really like. Some of the stuff is her own material, but I've also heard her play Faron Young, John Prine and Flatt & Scruggs covers. Shit, I've even heard her do Dolly Parton. Nightclub jazz singing too.

Here's a sampling of her music.

And yes, I'm aware she has tattoos and ohmigod, a nose ring in the last video. If that bothers you, try closing your eyes and listening to her music.

Shawshank for January 6 Detainees

“I’ve been in solitary confinement for a hundred days now and haven’t been convicted of any crime with no end in sight.”

That was part of a lengthy message Jacob Lang sent to his father, Ned, the last week of April. Jacob was arrested on January 16 in New York and charged with several crimes related to his activity in Washington, D.C. on January 6. Lang, who turned 25 while incarcerated, is accused of assaulting police officers using a dangerous or deadly weapon. The government’s evidence against him appears to be strong. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

But Lang and dozens of January 6 defendants already have been convicted by Joe Biden’s Justice Department and sentenced by federal judges—presumed guilty until proven innocent—awaiting trials that won’t begin for months. It’s all part of what Attorney General Merrick Garland promised is his “top priority”—the sprawling investigation into the alleged insurrection—and what another top prosecutor boasted is the “shock and awe” campaign to punish Americans protesting the results of the 2020 presidential election.

For the Love of Dog

I embrace being a social pariah when I share my opinion on pet ownership. Not liking dogs has become the moral equivalent of baby seal clubbing. When I see the dog park being a main social attraction to meet others, I know we are at some strange phase in the collapse.

A while back, my brother had a gig to help a back-issued, closet opiate-addicted boomer deliver boxes out of a beat-up FedEx truck. He ended up doing all the physicalities of the job. This meant getting chased down by Pitbulls while delivering boxed wine to some “almost divorced” leather-faced wench. He noticed a trend in dog food coupled with unmarked boxes when shook sounded like a rubber pinball inside. One day the faded boomer saw my brother’s look of confusion over the packages being shipped together. “Dog Food And Dildos; It’s What We Do!” Taken back with a heavy laugh, my brother asked, “you’re joking. Right?”. He repeated, “Dog Food And Dildos, It’s What We Do!”

Public health officials highlighted the need for Los Angeles County residents to keep wearing masks indoors over the next month on Monday as the region’s vaccination rate declines amid a push toward herd immunity.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its federal guidance last week to say fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in most indoor spaces.

In December 2019, scientists recorded a minimum number of sunspots. That observation marked the end of cycle 24, the panel later said, and based on how fast the spots had started reappearing, it seemed that cycle 25 would be similar in intensity to the relative calm of cycle 24.

However, other solar cycle experts reached a dramatically different conclusion: Cycle 25 could be one of the strongest since record-keeping began in 1755. Instead of counting sunspots, Robert Leamon of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and his collaborators based their prediction on something they call the terminator, or the point when all magnetic activity from a previous solar cycle vanishes. Sunspots generally track that transition, but the true terminator tends to lag behind the sunspot minimum by somewhere between 12 and 18 months.

Bantam Chickens are most suitable for small backyards where space is premium.

You can easily fit two bantams into the space required by one standard bird, and since they like to fly, building up will accommodate them well.

An unidentified man knocked on the home’s front door, asked for a resident by name and then shot her several times when she came to the door, police said.

Nothing like a hot meal, right?

A guy I worked with out at the warehouse did this every day when the weather was warm. He'd take some tinfoil and make himself a little reflector over on the dash of his truck before he went in to work and set his lunch up there. When he came out 5 hours later, it would be done. It was actually pretty easy to do when the days were 100 degrees or more by 10 in the morning.

Nelson Story Sr. (April 4, 1838 – March 10, 1926) was a pioneer Montana entrepreneur, cattle rancher, miner and vigilante, who was a notable resident of Bozeman, Montana. He was best known for his 1866 cattle drive from Texas with approximately 1000 head of Texas Longhorns to Montana along the Bozeman Trail—the first major cattle drive from Texas into Montana. His business ventures in Bozeman were so successful that he became the town's first millionaire. In 1893, he played a prominent role in the establishment of the Agricultural College of the State of Montana by donating land and facilities. He built the first Story Mansion on Main Street in Bozeman in 1880 and later built today's Story Mansion at the corner of Willson and College for his son, T. Byron Story in 1910. In his later years, he became a prominent real estate developer in Los Angeles, California.

Commentary: Raising the Minimum Wage Is Not the Answer

If Joe Biden gets his way, the federal minimum wage will soon more than double, from the current $7.25 to $15 per hour. To quote our commander in chief, “if you work for less than $15 an hour and work 40 hours a week, you’re living in poverty.”

To rehash the minimum wage debate would be redundant. Anyone with business experience should see what’s going to happen. Many small independent businesses, retail stores, and restaurants that pay minimum wage will go under.

Commentary: ‘No Evidence’ That Gun Buyback Programs Reduce Gun Violence, New Economic Study Finds

Shortly before Christmas in 2018, a woman named Darlene voluntarily turned in a 9mm pistol to the Baltimore Police Department. It was just one of about 500 firearms the department collected that day as part of the city’s gun buyback program, which paid citizens somewhere between $25 and $500 in exchange for their firearms and high-capacity magazines.

Darlene, however, had a confession. She was turning in her 9mm, she told a local news reporter, so she could “upgrade to a better weapon.”

History of the FBI

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States and its principal federal law enforcement agency. Operating under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Justice, the FBI reports to both the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence.

The FBI originated from a force of Special Agents created in 1908 by Attorney General Charles Bonaparte during the Presidency of Theodore Roosevelt. When the two first met in 1892, Roosevelt, then Civil Service Commissioner, boasted of his reforms in federal law enforcement. This was a time when law enforcement was often political rather than professional. Roosevelt spoke with pride of his insistence that Border Patrol applicants pass marksmanship tests, with the most accurate getting the jobs.

Hyperinflation begins in America as gas stations and refineries SHUT DOWN

We are now living through the initial stages of hyperinflation and the collapse of the debt-based dollar, as prices on nearly everything continue to skyrocket by the day. The massive printing of trillions of dollars by the Federal Reserve — and catapulting of that money into the economy via “stimulus” handouts — is overheating demand for commodities like wood, copper, aluminum and iron. At the same time, the national economic infrastructure that delivers goods is crumbling, due to the free covid stimulus money reward workers for staying home and avoiding productive jobs.

Soviet 122mm D30 Cannon (Firing)

The D30 is a Soviet 122mm multi-role gun introduced in the 1960s and still in use around the world today. It has a somewhat unusual 3-leg mount that is slower to set up than a standard trail, but allows for complete 360-degree rotation of the gun. The piece was designed for both indirect fire (maximum range 15.4km; more with rocket-assisted munitions) or direct anti-tank fire. Note that it came with an armor shield for the crew, which was left off the gun for this trip to the range.

Thanks to Battlefield Vegas for the chance to film this awesome cannon firing! It belongs to them, and will be set up at their facility for a pretty awesome rental firing experience if you are into that...
