None for me, thanks

Oscar Mayer announced Thursday it would sell a hot dog-flavored popsicle in a handful of U.S. cities.

The popsicle, dubbed the "Cold Dog," is being sold for $2 at frozen desserts company Popbar locations in New York City, Atlanta, New Orleans and Long Beach, Oscar Mayer said in a press release. It visibly resembles a hot dog topped with mustard and has "smokey, umami notes of Oscar Mayer's iconic Weiner."

This is how much money you need for a funeral in the US

Death is never an easy subject to speak about. Add on top of that the awkward conversations about paying for a loved one’s burial and you’ve got yourself a very uncomfortable and harsh reality.

When someone you care about dies, it doesn’t just end there. Now comes the planning and financial aspects of life after death.

*****

When Lisa's oldest son died a couple years back, we had him cremated by an outfit down in Franklin.
My buddy Woody was kind enough to build a very nice box to hold his ashes and we held a memorial service at my brother-in-law's place.
Total cost to us was 1200 bucks for the cremation and maybe 10 bucks worth of gas to drive down to Franklin to pick up his ashes.

You asked for it, you got it - More shit that I posted on Facebook

Las Vegas Metro police said they arrested a woman for allegedly skipping out on a restaurant tab and violating airport rules. The suspect told officers she was under arrest because she was so good-looking, an arrest report said.

Hend Bustami faces a charge of violating airport conduct. Police said they were called to a Chili’s restaurant in Harry Reid International Airport on Wednesday for a report of a woman who had left without paying her bill, the report said.

The FBI Exposed

It saddens many of us that the FBI, unfortunately, has become more akin to the KGB than the independent and efficient arm of the Department of Justice it was intended to be. To the surprise and horror of the American people, among it’s many failures, the FBI has repeatedly failed to protect Americans (remember 9/11) and the U.S. Constitution.

The FBI has framed good patriotic citizens, misled the FISA court, doctored evidence, planted materials, leaked confidential documents and accounts to their friends in the left-wing media, shown bias and favoritism, failed to prosecute their political allies, engaged in censorship, election interference and rigging, spied on people, suppressed information, used a fake dossier, and utilized its’ undercover agents to coax people into acts of insurrection or kidnapping. And now it has attempted yet another coup of President Trump with its illegal and illegitimate raid on his home. All of this for one, and only one, reason: to insure he can’t run for office again and finish what he started in his first term.

"LISTEN UP! I NEED ALL CARTEL MEMBERS HERE, TERRORISTS THERE, AND BOTH MEXICANS OVER HERE, PLEASE"

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — As hundreds of migrants line up along an Arizona border wall around 4 a.m., agents try to separate them into groups by nationality.

“Anyone from Russia or Bangladesh? I need somebody else from Russia here,” an agent shouts and then says quietly, almost to himself, “These are Romanian.”

It’s a routine task for the Border Patrol in the wee hours in this flat expanse of desert where the wall ends. Migrants from at least 115 countries have been stopped here in the last year, but that may be less striking than what’s missing: Mexicans are virtually absent.

How long do electric car batteries last?

(iSeeCars) – Electric cars have soared in popularity in the wake of high gasoline prices. While improvements in vehicle battery technology have led to increased battery range, consumers are still left wondering how long they can expect their vehicle battery to last. After all, the battery pack is the most expensive part of an electric car, with a new battery costing upwards of $20,000.

So what can you expect for an electric vehicle’s battery lifespan? We have the important answers.

*****

A little further into the article, there's a section titled "How to Prolong the Life of Your Electric Vehicle Battery"  and Number One on the list is Avoid parking in extreme temperatures.
Okaaay..... even before this fabricated climate change, the Western United States has always had temps above 100 degrees during the summer. So now people need air conditioned garages to preserve their batteries? And what about parking your electric scooter on steroids outside in the parking lot in the broiling sun all day while you're at work? It gets so hot in California that when I worked for Safeway at their warehouse, guys would routinely set their lunches on their dashboards at the 9 AM break so they could have a hot meal for lunch two hours later - and that's in the mid-morning before it got really hot.

Country singer Jason Aldean dropped by PR firm following backlash over wife’s comments

(NEXSTAR) – Country singer Jason Aldean has been dropped by his longtime PR firm days after his wife, Brittany Aldean, made critical comments about gender-affirming care for trans children.

“Music has always been and remains The Green Room’s core focus, so we had to make the difficult decision after 17 years to step away from representing Jason,” said Tyne Parrish, the co-owner of The Green Room, in a statement first shared with Billboard. Parrish also confirmed the news to Variety.

*****

A question for the PR firm: If music is in fact the 'core focus' as you state, why are you tripping on what your client's wife's (not the client, but his wife) opinion on a non-musical subject? Is her personal opinion on any subject even any of your fucking business?

And then comes the backlash:

Commentary: Saving America Now Requires a Ruthless Offense

The Book of Ecclesiastes tells us there is nothing new under the sun. But there is undeniably something new happening in American history. New and terrible. No hyperbole; we are living through the greatest threat to America since the Civil War.

This new threat, which has been germinating its poisonous fruit for decades in the darkened earth of sheltered universities, federal agencies, and media newsrooms has erupted into such full and ugly view today that it cannot be met and defeated, or even retarded, with any of our normal methods.

Raising Chickens in the City

Rest assured, because in many places it can be done!

Mountain Meadows Massacre

On September 11, 1857, approximately 120 men, women, and children in a wagon train from Arkansas were murdered by a band of Mormons set on a holy vengeance. Known as the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the history of this event continues to generate fierce controversy and deep emotions even to this day.

In April, the California bound wagon train assembled near Crooked Creek, Arkansas, approximately four miles south of present-day Harrison. The group included some 120-150 men, women and children, primarily from northwestern Arkansas, as well as hundreds of draft and riding horses and about 900 head of cattle. When the train began its journey it was first identified as the Baker train; however, en route, it became known as the Fancher train.

"Cow-killing weather": String of days with triple-digit heat proving deadly at NorCal dairy farms

LODI – Triple-digit temperatures for a record number of days are proving deadly for dairies in the region.

Hank Van Exel calls it "cow-killing weather."

"I hate saying that but at over 100 degrees, a little thing becomes a big thing in a hurry," Exel said.

*****

I remember a few years back when I was living in California, we had a string of 30 days with temps above 100 degrees before topping out at 115 and dairy cattle were dying like flies.
It's illegal to bury livestock in that area (hell, it might be for the entire state, I don't know) because the water table at the time was so low and they didn't want to contaminate it, so farmers had to have the tallow plants come pick up the dead animals. They'd put their dead cattle right outside the gates to the property and call the tallow plant for pickup.
Only problem was, the local tallow plant in South Modesto had shut down because they started building houses in the area and the fucking Bay Area Transplants started complaining about the stench, leaving only one tallow plant in the region, so they were seriously overwhelmed and pickups were delayed.
My commute was about 5 minutes of town driving, then another 40 minutes of country driving, past piles and piles of dead bloated cattle rotting in 100+ degree heat for days at a time. The stench was horrible.
It got so bad that the powers that be suspended the rule about not burying cattle.

Yeah, you read that right - people were moving into the area where the tallow plant was located and then complained about the smell, causing it to close.
You can't tell me they didn't smell it when they were looking for homes because that stench was flat out overpowering and lingered even when the plant wasn't actively rendering cattle.
But these were the same group of people that bought homes next to dairies for the 'country living' experience and then complained about and then sued over the flies and noise coming from those 24 hour a day 7 days a week operations.
It got so bad the County had to enact a Right To Farm ordinance just to stop the lawsuits.

Will you keep arming the officers in states that intend to red flag your customers and seize their property purchased from you, without notice, hearing, or due process?”

Hispanic Americans Point to Crime, Immigration and the Economy as Key Concerns

Recent reports indicate a dramatic political shift for Hispanic Americans, citing a defection from the left toward the right. While some mainstream media accounts dispute the shift, other national surveys are missing the on-the-ground factors that illustrate why a sizeable portion of Latinos are moving right politically, and the fact that many polls suggest Hispanics are drifting from the Democratic party over economic issues.

One Wall Street Journal poll taken earlier this year found that nonwhite voters were more likely to say high inflation is causing major financial strain in their lives with Hispanic men and Black women reporting the highest proportions.

A July Quinnipiac poll also put President Joe Biden’s approval rating among Hispanics at a record low of 19%, largely over the flagging economy.

Clearly… ATF Needs to Go as 4 Million+ Face Gun Registration

Washington, DC –-(AmmoLand.com)- According to an exclusive story published by AmmoLand News, the ATF is about to force millions of gun owners to register their pistol braces as short-barreled rifles, which will then be regulated by the National Firearms Act.

Commentary: The Hocus-Pocus Presidency

In the arena of politics, incompetents and charlatans can have long careers in ways that others in fields like medicine and architecture cannot. If someone botches a heart bypass operation or designs a wobbly skyscraper, the consequences of those mistakes arrive quickly and cannot be explained away. Even when their policies fail spectacularly, politicians can obscure, deflect, and mislead for years and not be held accountable.

This is essentially what we are seeing now from the Biden Administration, practiced to a more shameless and insulting degree than any of its predecessors have ever attempted. The latest nadir of this strategy happened recently when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy confronted White House flack Karine Jean-Pierre about the glaring hypocrisy of not allowing unvaccinated tennis star Novak Djokovic to fly to the United States to compete, while untold numbers of unvaccinated illegal aliens enter the country on foot daily and are allowed to stay.

“But that’s not how it works,” Jean-Pierre said over Doocy’s indignation. “It’s not like somebody walks over.”

Spanish M43: The Worst Sniper Rifle Ever Made

The standard Spanish infantry rifle from 1943 until the adoption of the CETME was the M43, an 8mm Mauser short rifle made at the La Coruña arsenal. As is fairly common, a sniper rifle variant was made from the standard rifles, with an early version made in the mid 1950s and a later model about a decade later.

The early type is a bit basic, but reasonably well constructed. It uses a Zeiss 4 power scope with La Coruña markings (either scrubbed and remarked or bought from Zeiss without and German markings). The scope mounting system is a bit odd, but again functional.

The late pattern of M43 sniper is truly awful. It uses a cheap Japanese-made 10x "Marine" scope (this being in the days when Japanese optics were very poor, unlike today). The mounts are a conglomeration of spacer blocks crudely welded to the receiver, bits of aluminum Weaver rail, and cheap thumb-screw scope rings. Honestly the worst actual military sniper rifle I have ever seen. And yet, they were formally adopted and used in Spanish military service for many years.
